Understanding Hormonal Shifts After 40

Your hormones do not fall off a cliff at 40 - they drift. Knowing the direction of that drift is what lets you work with your body instead of against it.
Most people notice the symptoms long before they notice the pattern: sleep gets lighter, recovery takes longer, body composition shifts even though nothing about the routine has changed. These are not separate problems. They are downstream of the same slow endocrine transition.
The drift, not the cliff
Oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone all decline on their own timelines, and the ratios between them matter more than any single number. A panel read in isolation tells you very little; the same value can be entirely normal at 35 and worth acting on at 48.
What actually moves the needle
Resistance training, protein intake and sleep consistency influence hormonal signalling more reliably than most supplements do. They are unglamorous, and they compound.
